Responsibilities
The Wound Care Nurse is a skilled and experienced professional Registered Nurse (RN) assisting with the development coordination and monitoring of the hospitals Wound Care Program. The Wound Care Nurse provides expert direction and support establishes standards of care and clinical competencies to meet patient needs and provides training to ensure quality clinical care. The Wound Care Nurse is responsible for quality initiatives and compliance. The Wound Care Nurse works collaboratively with the medical staff and provides education to patients caregivers and staff on wound ostomy and continence care. It is expected that the employee will demonstrate behavior consistent and in alignment with the vision and core values of the organization. The employee shall support California Hospital Medical Center strategic plan and the goals and direction of the quality improvement process and activities.
Qualifications
Minimum
Bachelors (BS) degree in Nursing required
On the job WOC training provided
Training program provided to selected qualified candidate
Must be able to be certified in wound care within six (6) months of date
Current California Registered Nursing (RN) License required
AHA CPR/BLS and PALS certification required
Wound Care Certification Nurse (WCCN) must be completed within six (6) months of hire
Los Angeles Fire Safety Card with 90 Days of hire
Demonstrates competency identifying and staging pressure injuries and other forms of impaired skin integrity
Demonstrates basic knowledge and desire necessary to accomplish the job of directing others
PC literate
Preferred
Masters (MA) degree is Nursing is preferred
Minimum three (3) years Registered Nurse experience preferred
At least two (2) years of full-time or four years of part-time wound care experience that must have taken place in the last five (5) years either in direct hands on management education
Current certification in Wound Ostomy and Continence Nurse (CWOCN) or Wound Care Certified Nurse (WCCN) certification preferred
Pay Range
$48.00 - $72.61 /hour
