Responsibilities

This position establishes the standards and methodologies of medical nutrition therapy for patients and staff and delivers direct patient care.

Duties and role may include:

  • Counsels patients and care givers regarding nutritional issues

  • Develops and implements patient care plans and protocols

  • Provides documentation in medical records on nutritional issues

  • Monitors physician diet orders for appropriateness for the patient's condition

  • Participates in accreditation, quality assurance activities

  • Educates staff and community regarding nutritional health issues.

Qualifications

We require:

· Bachelor's degree and Registered Dietitian status (RD / RDN) from the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, Commission on Dietetic Registration

· Certification by the State of Washington as a Certified Dietitian (CD) is required within 90 days of employment.

· Specialty board certifications as needed per area & assignment

· Working knowledge of anatomy, physiology, chemistry, biochemistry, pharmacology, and behavioral sciences

· An understanding of therapeutic nutrition

· A working knowledge of safety and sanitation practices for food science

· Counseling skills, the ability to negotiate, work collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary environment and strong math skills.

· Strong interpersonal and communication skills

· Excellent problem solving skills

A Master's Degree is preferred. Two years of experience in an acute care hospital; OR an advanced degree plus one year of acute care experience and one year of outpatient experience are also preferred.

Pay Range

$29.03 - $42.1 /hour
