Northridge Hospital Medical Center

Under direct supervision of the licensed nurse, the MENTAL HEALTH ASSISTANT provides basic patient care in accordance with individual patient needs, Hospital policy and standards of patient care.

REQUIREMENTS: High School Graduate or equivalent required. Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Social Services or Corrections preferred.At least (1) year as MENTAL HEALTH ASSISTANT in acute care preferred/ or equivalent combination of higher education and experience. Current Certification in Management of Assaultive Behavior. AHA BLS req'd.


  • Must have at least one (1) year as a mental health assistant (acute care preferred) or equivalent combination of higher education and experience.

  • Completion of a Hospital approved program on Management of Assaultive Behaviors, as defined by Hospital/Unit policy required. N/A.

  • Current AHA BLS card. Must maintain current Fire Safety cards.

  • This position is represented by SEIU-UHW and is covered by the terms and conditions of the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
