Responsibilities

Provides quality education to hospital staff based on identified learning needs. Demonstrates progressive experience and masters level preparation in nursing in the required specialty area. Scope of practice encompasses use of nursing process in the following major areas: practice, education, consultation, research and administration. This position is accountable for promoting excellence in the clinical nursing practice. The incumbent is a consultant to staff, nursing leaders, hospital administration, physicians, patients, family and community.

  • Participates in the development of the hospital education program.

  • Develops education plan for clinical specialty areas, implements and evaluates programs

  • Develops curricula based on hospital, corporate & regulatory requirements for both licensed & non-licensed staff

  • Schedules programs for the convenience of target audience

  • Advertises programs with appropriate lead time

  • Researches best practice standards

  • Conducts needs assessments to determine educational needs in specialty areas.

  • Assesses education and development needs in alignment with competencies and strategic goals

  • Provides remediation or referral to resources for staff with continued learning needs. Reports needs to management as appropriate

  • Administers needs analysis and develops programs to meet needs

  • Coordinates staff development programs including:

  • Hospital and Nursing orientation

  • CE program coordination to meet state, national & other regulatory requirements

  • On-going unit education as needed

  • New equipment and technology training

  • On-line learning programs & special projects

  • Serves as consultant to various groups within hospital, community and healthcare network, including local colleges.

  • Designs and coordinates new graduate RN programs.

  • Ensures continuous improvement of programs

  • Updates curriculum annually to address learning needs

  • Oversees student clinical & preceptor programs

  • Serves as an educational resource for special projects, new technology or equipment.

  • Provides oversight and direction for the on-line learning programs and required regulatory compliance programs.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Five years progressive experience in area of specialty including: needs assessment, coordination, planning, implementation, teaching and evaluation

  • Demonstrated working knowledge of MS Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)

  • Experience in management of projects and adult learners to include: curriculum development, evaluation of personnel and interpretation and utilization of evidence based practice

  • Master's degree in Nursing

  • CT CPRBLS;RN

Pay Range

$54.43 - $78.93 /hour
