The Cardiovascular Physician Assistant CVT surgery PA provides FIRST assist for open heart, thoracic and vascular surgeries, and second assist performing endovascular vein harvest for CABG and vascular cases. The CVT Surgery PA provides daily rounds, post operative care to include ICU and telemetry stepdown unit patient care. The PA is responsible for pre/post op orders and patient discharges. The PA is an considered an extender to the surgeon and must have good communication skills to speak with other physicians for necessary consults. This position requires the full understanding and active participation in fulfilling the Mission of the Organization. It is expected that the employee will demonstrate behavior consistent with the Core Values. The employee shall support the Organization’s strategic plan and the goals and direction of the Performance Improvement Plan (PIP).



  • State of California Certification as a Physician’s Assistant.

  • Current BLS and ACLS certifications

  • DEA License

  • Satisfactory completion of a formal Physician’s Assistant Training Program at an accredited institution


  • Prefer minimum 5 years’ experience as a CVT Surgery PA, but would consider the right candidate who is an experienced PA in a current patient care practice with minimum 3 years’ experience

  • Knowledge and understanding of customs and beliefs and needs of a consumer group(s) served
